Steps to Replacing a Furnace Filter:

1. Turn Off Your Furnace: To ensure your safety, turn off your furnace before you stary the process.
2. Locate Your Furnace Filter: The filter is typically located nside the furnace or the air return vent. Look for a door or panel on the front of your furnace. If your having troble finding it, refer to your furnace's user manual.
3. Remove the Old Filter: Carefully slide the old filter out. Be careful not to knock lose any dust or debris.
4. Check Filter Size: Look for a size printed on the side of the filter. If you can't find a size, use a tape measure to find the length, width, and depth. You'll need this information to buy a new filter. I store my furnace filter sizes in my phone so that they are handy when at the store.
5. Purchase a New Filter: Purchase a new filter with the same size as your old one. Filters are available at most home improvement stores and online. Please ask you furnace repair company what type of filter they recommend.
6. Insert the New Filter: Look for an arrow on the side of the filter that shows airflow direction. This arrow should point towards the furnace. Slide the new filter into place.
7. Turn Your Furnace Back On: Once the new filter is securely in place, turn your furnace back on.
